Lai Mohammed drags Buni-led APC to court
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed group of the All Progressives Congress in Kwara State has filled a case challenging the legality of Mai Mala Buni Caretaker committee before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
The action comes against the backdrop of the suspension the former Chairman, Hon Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, BOB, after the announcement of the dissolution of the State Executive Committee of the party.
The group loyal to the minister in Kwara State is challenging the legality of the Buni-led Caretaker Committee to dissolve the duly elected SEC and removal of Bolarinwa from office as the Kwara state Chairman of the APC and consequent appointment of Abdullahi Samari, having regards to section 183 of the 1999 constitution of Nigeria (as amended), section 223 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) and Article 17 (IV) of the APC Constitution.
The group sought an order to set aside the declaration of the Buni-led Caretaker Committee to dissolve state Executive, Local Government Executives and Ward Executives.
The Minister’s group is also asking the Court to restrain Abdullahi Samari from further acting or parading himself as the Acting Chairman of the Kwara state Chapter of APC.
