Towoju seeks support for Government to Achieve it’s goals

The Kwara state Commissioner for Communications, Mr. Olabode George Towoju, has called on the people of the state to support the administration of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq in its process of restoring the lost glory of the state.

The Commissioner, who spoke with empathy today while meeting with the heads of the different agencies under the Ministry of Communications, decried the level of neglect which the agencies have found themselves and assured them that the government will not forsake the Agencies and that in no distant time, all their challenges would be addressed.

” It is disheartening that things have got this bad. It is sad that some people have turned Kwara State to their father’s house and have chosen to steal government properties and leave our Ministries, Departments and Agencies in shambles.

The Governor is on a mission; to right the wrongs of past years. The “O to ge” fight is still ongoing and we will not stop until perpetrators are brought to book.

Most of our Agencies here were deflated by the inaction and corrupt practices of some politicians in time past who have milked the state coffers dry. The good news is that the governor will not relent in his efforts.

I appreciate all of you for making sure that despite the challenges you face in your agencies, you are still performing well. For this, I give you kudos,” the commissioner said.

Earlier, the General Manager of the Tourism and Hospitality Development Board, Mrs. Bolaji Onietan, said the Board is a body set to promote the tourist attractions in the state.

According to her, “Kwara is known as the heart of tourism which boasts of about a hundred tourist sites but unfortunately, they are not in good shapes and this has also been affecting revenue generation.”

She called on the government to look into the state of tourism in Kwara state and also help the staff with regular training and retraining.

The General Manager of Radio Kwara, Mr. Kayode Aremu, appreciated the government of the day and reiterated that they have received broadcast licences for Kakakin and Nootia FM stations, while also stressing the issue of staff training and release of funds to purchase transmitter, solar and antenna.

Also present at the meeting was the General Manager of the Kwara State Printing and Publishing Corporations ( The Herald), Mr. Yomi Clement Adeboye who said The Herald’s years of neglect were over as the present administration in the state is repositioning the corporation.

The General Manager said The Herald’s digital platform has become functional.

The General Manager of Kwara State Television Authority, Mr. Olatunde Michaels ; Director of the Kwara State Council for Arts and Culture, Mr. Bisi Oyewole, were also at the meeting.
