Ilorin innovation Hub and Kwara state university to Establish centre for Digital Economy

The Centre for Digital Economy (CDE) is an initiative of the Ilorin Innovation Hub in conjunction with Kwara State University and backed by the National Information Technology Development (NITDA), to train young people on Digital Economy. The training centre will be located in Ilorin and will be focused on all the processes, infrastructure and regulation involved in conducting business across markets via on the internet. In today’s world, a vast majority of business happens digitally and the CDE will bring a focal point for learning and research on the global economy to Kwara State. The Centre will also birth a new BSc Digital Economy program at KWASU later this year which will be the first of its kind in Nigeria, merging traditional curriculums with modern technology courses like mobile money, blockchain, payment processing, remote outsourcing, intellectual property and will be heavily practical with hands-on programs at the Ilorin Innovation Hub to teach soft skills required in tech.

The Management Team of the Ilorin Innovation Hub led by Managing Director Temi Kolawole along with the Kwara State University Steering Committee for the establishment of the Centre for Digital Economy, chaired by the Vice Chancellor of KWASU Prof. Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi SAN met recently to finalize preparation for launch in Q1 2022. In attendance were Dr Sunday Ojo (KWASU Dir. Centre for Entrepreneurship), Mr Olatunji Abdulkareem (Head of Operations Ilorin Innovation Hub), Dr Isiaka Mope Rafiu (KWASU Dir. Centre for Information & Innovative Technology Resource), Mrs Hassanat Y. Bello (KWASU Dep. Dir. Centre for Information & Innovative Technology Resource), Mr. Omotosho Yaqub ESQ. (KWASU Dir. Legal Services), Prof. Kajogbola Ajao (KWASU Dir. Centre for Sustainable Energy), Mr. Abduljemil Bio Usman and Awwal Onaolapo.
