The demolition of my property by Kwara Governor is political vendetta but I am unmoved – Mashood Mustapha

Kwara APC chieftain and Chairman of Crystal Group of Companies, Hon. Mashood Mustapha (MM) has said that the demolition of his property in GRA Ilorin by the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led Kwara state government is political vendetta.

MM disclosed this in a video he made available to the media on Saturday.

He said, “This morning, I was woken up by several calls, especially from my Chief of Staff and my protocol officer to inform me of the ugly incident of the demolition that was being carried out on my property along Sulu Gambari christened Crystal Place.

“We all know that this is political. It is unfortunate but I want to implore my people to please allow peace to reign. Our state is known as a state of peace and harmony and I want it to remain like that. We are a people that believe in the rule of law. This is not unexpected because we all know the kind of governor that we have in office. The story is known to everyone of us. It’s quite unfortunate. Just because I disagreed with him on the issue of Kwara Hotel on how he wants to spend a colossal 17 billion on Kwara Hotel, he has taken a position against me and I said it in my open letter to him that he would target my property. I said it clearly that he wants to destroy me economically but he is not God and he is not the one that made me, so I’m unperturbed”.

MM added, “What he did this morning is a testimony to the kind of person that he is. He is a destroyer, he has always been known like that. Anywhere he is, he is always creating problems and disaffection among the people. God used us to give him the power he is using against us now. We fought in the sun, under the rain to ensure his victory but since he got into office, the only thing that he knows how to do is show ingratitude to us.

“What he did today is unfortunate, it’s uncalled for, it’s what I call political vendetta but I am unmoved. This is nothing to me. I believe so much in Kwara. I put most of the properties in place in Kwara to help our urban renewal. If you look at Kwara today, people see us as a civil service state. Unfortunately, some of us who have strived to work outside Kwara to bring all those things that God has given us back to Kwara to help in developing our economy. We have someone who does not have a single economic asset; he doesn’t have a single business in Kwara. Let him prove me wrong. And for you to know, “eni ti o ba daso funi kole mo iyi aso kosi le pe eni ni arogun”. He doesn’t have it, so there is no way he will have value for what we have. That is why he is bent on destroying some of us that have helped him. Let him continue, we will continue to wait, his time is running out. His time is really running out”.

He urged his supporters to calm down and not take laws into their hands.

“I implore my people to take things easy. I learnt some people want to protest, some people want to take some measures. I told them this morning that let him carry out whatever thing, let him continue to destroy what we have built. We will continue to build, let him continue to destroy but his time is limited. Today is gone again and that is a kind of way to show that he cannot remain in office perpetually.

He thanked the good people of Kwara for standing for the truth.

He said, “Thank you so much my people of Kwara. We are builders, he is a destroyer. I am not afraid of him. Let him do his worst. If he wants to go after any of my property again let him do it. It’s God that gave me and I believe so much in God and I believe in my people of Kwara. Things will be better and things will come out well for us. I give you the assurance that we will get rid of this government at the appropriate time, in a democratic manner and I can assure you by the grace of God that we will have a government that will be there for the people. The hardship is too much. This is not what we expect but we thank Almighty Allah for our lives and I want to tell you that at the appropriate time, when I need to speak again, I will speak out and I will let the people know what we are going through. Thank you so much. Remain peaceful, remain resolute, believe in Kwara and let us continue to build the Kwara of our dreams.”
