Warns Against Attempt to Tarnish the Adebayos and AbdulRazaq Administration
The Progressive Youth Forum (PYF), operating under the Afenifere umbrella, has dismissed as false and misleading a recent report suggesting that the Oke-Onigbin Road project handled by TAHL Engineering Limited, owned by Mr. Cornelius Adebayo, remains incomplete.
In a statement signed by Comrade Funsho Dare, an Afenifere chieftain, the Forum described the publication credited to Tejumola Olusegun Orilemola, Convener of the Society for Sustainable Governance (SSG), as misleading, ill-timed, and politically motivated.
According to the group, the timing of such allegations—coming only days after the funeral of the late elder statesman Pa Cornelius Adebayo—is both suspicious and insensitive.
“It is curious that this baseless claim is emerging immediately after the burial of a respected leader who served the nation with distinction. Turning such a solemn period into a platform for controversy is both unfair and unfortunate,” the statement read.
The Forum clarified that the Oke-Onigbin Road was executed under direct labour and has been fully completed, contrary to the false narrative of abandonment. It further explained that TAHL Engineering Limited was never formally awarded any contract for the project.
“For any project to qualify as a contract, due process must be followed including public advertisement, bidding, issuance of an award letter, and formal acceptance. None of these steps occurred in this case. The road was a direct labour initiative, and it has since been completed,” the Forum emphasized.
The group also faulted the Society for Sustainable Governance (SSG) for failing to verify its claims with the Kwara State Ministry of Works, describing the report as a deliberate attempt to create division between the Adebayo family and the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration.
“At a time when Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is delivering impactful projects across the state, responsible citizens should be supporting progress, not spreading misinformation that seeks to undermine unity,” the statement added.
The Forum also condemned what it termed the “unnecessary drama” by a cleric during Pa Adebayo’s funeral, noting that such a sacred event should have been a moment of tribute, not political grandstanding.
Reaffirming the commitment of Mr. Cornelius Adebayo and Hon. Oloruntoyosi Thomas to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the group restated their unwavering support for the AbdulRazaq-led administration.
The Forum concluded by commending Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi, Deputy Senate Leader Architect Ashiru, Senator Sadiq Umar, and Rt. Hon. Danladi Yakubu-Salisu, among others, for their steadfast leadership and dedication to Kwara’s growth.
“Long live the Government of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq! Long live Kwara State! Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the statement concluded.
