Kwara Government officials visits site of collapsed bridge linking Nigeria and Benin Republic in Baruten LGA
Kwara State commissioner for work and transport, Engr. Suleiman Rotimi Iliasu alongside Speaker of Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi has made an assessment visit to the site of the collapsed Bridge linking Nigeria to Benin Republic.
The bridge which was constructed around 2010 was said to have collapsed due to an heavy downpour on Monday.
The bridge which is located at Chikanda town, Baruten LGA of Kwara State has served as a major trade facility between Nigeria and Benin Republic.
The collapsed bridge which has left a lot of travelers stranded since Monday has finally received attention from the Kwara State government led by Kwara State commissioner for works and Transport, Engr. Sulaiman Rotimi Iliasu alongside Speaker of Kwara State House of Assembly and some other officials.
Engr. Iliasu while inspecting the site of the collapse bridge promised a speedy intervention from the Kwara State government towards ensuring the full construction of the bridge.
“The bridge has a huge economic impact for not just Kwara state but Nigeria as a whole. The Kwara State Government is ready to facilitate a speedy repair and reconstruction of the Bridge so as to foster resumption of economic activities between our country and Benin Republic”, he said.
Other officials present includes Hon Ahmed Rufai, Hon. Abdullahi, H. Danbaba, Hon. Ahmed Saidu Baba, Hon. Mohammed B. Salihu amongst others.
