Rots clearing: Kwara Government pays SUBEB salary owned by previous administration
The Kwara State government has approved the payment of the arrears owed to staff of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) on Monday.
The backlogs of arrears date back to the previous administrations where workers of SUBEB were not paid as and when due and when paid it is a percentage of their salaries they received.
This is just as Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has granted approval for the full payment of August 2022 salary.
This much was confirmed in a statement issued by Chairman, Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Kwara State, Mr Oyewo Bashir.
He revealed that 15 per cent was approved out of the salary arrears as a consequence of the improvement in the monthly allocation from federation account.
According to him, “The Joint Allocation Committee (JAC) meeting was held today and an approval for the full payment of August salary has been granted.
“Based on the improvement in the monthly allocation from the federation account, 15% has also been approved out of the arrears of SUBEB as we hope and pray that federation allocations will continue to improve.”
Kwara State Government is one of the sub-national governments in Nigeria that does not owe workers salaries since the inception of Governor AbdulRazaq.
