Call CBN, EFCC Boss to order, Kogi State Government urge President Muhammadu Buhari
The Kogi State Government has said the current display of desperation by the Chairman of the Economic and Financial crime commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, to paint the state and its officials in the colours of corruption at all costs is not unexpected.
Speaking with newsmen at a media parley in Ilorin on Wednesday, the commissioner for information and communication Kingsley Fanwo, said the recent attempt is a political tool to silence the Governor and distract him from the task of garnering support for the election of the APC Presidential Candidate, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He explained the reason why the state government went to court to challenge the Naira Redesign Policy, especially the date the old naira will cease to be legal tender, which was borne out of the need to defend the survival and the economic rights of Nigerians.
The govt therefore promised not to give into any intimidation or threats by the convicted Abdulrasheed Bawa using the EFCC and taxpayers’ resources at its disposal to fight personal and proxy battles.
While calling on the President to call Bawa and Emefiele to order before they throw the country into a huge crisis with their disdain for the rule of law, the state government pledged to continue to resort to constitutionally provided mechanisms in resolving disagreements.
It however called on Nigerians to remain steadfast in the build-up to the February 25, 2023 polls.
