Kwara South Leaders Rejects Regional agitations, insist on Pan-Kwara Governor in 2027
Stakeholders from Kwara South Senatorial District have declared that the zone will only support a pan-Kwara governorship candidate in 2027—one who embodies inclusiveness, fairness, competence, and a unifying spirit—warning ethnic agitators and sectional lobbyists against divisive campaigns.
This was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the Kwara South Leaders’ Roundtable held on Saturday, 13th September, 2025, at Gbenab Executive Hotel, Oro, Kwara State. The event drew over 400 distinguished participants, including political leaders, community stakeholders, elder statesmen, elected representatives, appointed officials, youth leaders, and women leaders from across the seven local government areas of Kwara South.
The Roundtable deliberated on pressing issues affecting the senatorial district and resolved to pursue peace, unity, inclusive development, and effective political representation.
In its resolutions, the gathering emphasized that while Kwara South indigenes have an inalienable right to contest the governorship in 2027, the ultimate priority is the emergence of a governor for all Kwarans, not a sectional figure.
“The people of Kwara South are committed to supporting a pan-Kwara Governor in 2027—one who embodies fairness, inclusiveness, competence, and a unifying spirit. It is equally, an inalienable right of the respected people of Kwara South to contest for the governorship of Kwara State come 2027, and they are hereby urged to contest,” the communiqué stated.
Other key resolutions include:
Security: Participants commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for mobilizing efforts to address insecurity in Kwara South while calling for continuous vigilance and intelligence-sharing.
Support for Tinubu: Stakeholders expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing sons and daughters of Kwara South into federal positions and unanimously adopted him for a second term in 2027 under his Renewed Hope Agenda.
Infrastructure and Development: The Roundtable commended Governor AbdulRazaq’s infrastructural strides and advocated greater investment in roads, healthcare, education, agriculture, and industrial hubs. They further urged that the governor be considered for higher national responsibilities.
Think-Tank Committee: A 15-member Kwara South Think-Tank was inaugurated to follow up on the resolutions and articulate the district’s developmental priorities.
Youth and Women Inclusion: The Roundtable emphasized greater inclusion of youth and women in governance and decision-making processes.
The communiqué was jointly signed by Otunba Biodun Ajiboye, Mallam Khaleel Bolaji, and Mrs. Foluke Ajide, who commended all participants, legislators, and conveners for their commitment to the unity and progress of Kwara South.
The stakeholders concluded with a firm message: Kwara South remains united and committed to the peace and progress of Kwara State, warning that no divisive ethnic agenda will be allowed to override the collective interest of the people.
