Nigeria is an African State that has exhibited her greatness in both human and materials resources.
It’s 61st Independence does not portray the decades of it’s existence . The corruptible nature of some leaders with difference in cultural and tribal upsurge , has made Nigeria to loose her credibility among the Committee of nation’s. Let’s trip down the memory lane where Nigeria made noticeable improvement to the quality of election in 1999 transition to democratic rule.
Corruption remains endemic in significant areas, to insecurities persisting in oil producing south, Inflaming abduction of school children in the North, insecurity, kidnapping,money ritual among others, which has led to staggering poverty across the country.
Intense rate of youth unemployment; giving edge to economic, religious,social and political violence.
The Covid-19 pandemic also exacerbated challenges in healthcare and humanitarian response. However, the pandemic also brought into focus the country’s inadequate Healthcare infrastructure which created inequitable access to treatment for the less privileged. The economic downturn in all aspects were also noticeable during the Lockdown.
The protest to end police brutality by police unit known as SARS ( special anti-robbery squad) received global attention which led to the dissolution of the Squad .
Nonetheless, October 1st every year is a day to appreciate and express gratitude as patriots. Despite all odds causing distress to humanity, Nigeria still remain our country of abode.
Nigeria is our Fatherland. Let’s serve her with love, strength and Faith. Let’s embrace the spirit of togetherness, selflessness and harmony.
Its quite a pleasant walk down the memory lane.
Let’s also keep praying for our beloved country. To the glory of The mother’s land, we shall prevail!
