We shut down Kwara Asphalt plant because of Environmental pollution: Engr. Rotimi Iliasu Sulaiman

My attention has been drawn to news going round that the Government of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has abandoned the state owned Ashphat plant for a more ‘personal’ reason.

I would like to state that the sole reason, among others, why this plant shut down was for the health and safety of Kwarans living around the area. For long, there was constant complaint by residents as a result of environmental pollution caused by huge dark smoke that emanated from the production of Ashphalt on the plant. As a Government that prioritize the health and wellbeing of her people, it was imperative that the plant be shut down while scouting for a more convenient and suitable location.

I would kindly implore all well meaning Kwarans to ignore these rumours as we are working to uphold the values of this great administration. Moreso, considering the many ongoing road construction projects around the state, Kwara state is gradually attracting private investors who are taking advantage of the numerous opportunities and potentials available and are investing in construction equipment and services. Such investment will not only create more jobs but will also contribute to the development of our dear state, making Kwara state one of the most desirable states to live and work in.
