Igbomina People Have Record of Supporting Popular Candidates – Babalola
A major stakeholder in Kwara South, Mr. Babalola Olaitan, has said the Igbomina people have a long-standing record of supporting popular and people-oriented candidates, expressing confidence that Hon. Saheed Olamilekan Popoola will enjoy massive support in the 2027 senatorial election.
Babalola, who spoke during a stakeholders meeting in Omu-Aran on Monday, said the Igbomina voting bloc has never failed to identify and stand with true leaders who have the interest of the people at heart.
“The history is there. Igbomina people have always supported popular candidates who can deliver. Hon. Popoola is that popular candidate whose name resonates in every home in Kwara South. He is tested, trusted and accessible,” Babalola said.
According to him, Popoola’s track record as a former lawmaker and grassroots mobilizer stands him out as the most qualified candidate to represent Kwara South in the Senate.
He condemned the main opposition candidate of the APC, describing his candidacy as an imposition driven by selfish interests and a continuation of bad representation that has stalled development in Kwara South.
“The APC candidate represents failure and disconnect. For years, Kwara South has suffered poor representation, lack of empowerment and abandonment. The people are tired of leaders who only show up during elections and disappear after winning. That era is over,” he stated.
Babalola accused the APC leadership of fielding an unpopular candidate who lacks grassroots acceptance and has nothing tangible to offer the senatorial district.
“Our people can see the difference. Popoola has been empowering people, creating opportunities and speaking for the masses even without holding office. The other candidate is only banking on party structure that has already collapsed in Kwara South,” he added.
He called on all Igbomina sons and daughters, both at home and in the diaspora, to rally behind Popoola’s candidacy to secure effective representation and accelerated development for Kwara South.
“2027 is about rescuing Kwara South. And with Popoola, victory is assured,” Babalola declared.
