When will ENetSuD track itself and it’s paymaster, Waziri Gobir- Progressive Nation initiative asks

The Progressive Nation Initiative has called out the Elites Network for Sustainable Development (ENetSuD), a purported anti-corruption civil society organisation in Kwara State, over its deceitful and hypocritical posture, noting its mastermind, Abdullateef Alagbonsi, has activated the platform for hatchet jobs, readily serving the highest bidder(s).

In a statement issued on Monday by its Public Relations Officer, Aisha Suleiman, the Progressive Nation Initiative lampooned ENetSuD over its biased and unpatriotic propaganda, often packaged as investigations and findings.

The group said ENetSuD lacks credibility and integrity, as its affairs are teleguided by some disgruntled and paperweight politicians who think empowering a propaganda outfit will gain them access to the seat of power in Kwara State.

“It is what we have always known that ENetSuD is being sponsored by some political interests. Their combative approach, grandstanding and intolerance for superior arguments have given them away as a mercenary whose assignment is to stop at nothing in bringing down the reigning government. Just when their cover was to be blown, they pulled a fast one by announcing a partnership arrangement with Gobir Organisation Foundation to the tune of N26.5 million.

“Waziri Yakubu Gobir, the Chairman of Gobir Organisation Foundation and the Gubernatorial Candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) has been the patron of ENetSuD since his fallout with the present government. He had romanced them in the fantasy that they would help him gain power by painting the sitting government black and soiling its reputation with half-truth, post-truth and alternative facts.

“ENetSuD has now shown its true colour and desperation with the endorsement of the candidacy of Waziri Yakubu Gobir in a graphics circulating widely on social media. As a youth group, we are taken aback by their irresponsible move and politicking. We have always known that a day like this would come. It is shameful for a civil society organisation that is supposed to be neutral at all times to be seen as the one leading the campaign of a particular candidate. But lies cannot be covered for long. We congratulate ENetSuD on their campaign management role for Yakubu Gobir. We however caution them to stay within the ambit of their assignment and stop posturing as a voice for the people. They are a voice for their paymaster. He who pays the Piper dictates the tune,” the statement read.

Suleiman meanwhile queried Alagbonsi on when he’s going to track himself and his paymaster, saying they both have no moral standing to track corruption considering their political affiliation and exposure.

She challenged Alagbonsi to publish all details of their financial transactions if they were truly genuine and at the service of the public, with emphasis on the receipt for the car their political patron procured for them recently.

“When will ENetSuD track all the audio empowerment programmes Yakubu Gobir is notorious for doing, only to hype with media. He has always been a performative personality who loves the cameras, without any corresponding value for all he says. Then, Abdullateef Alagbonsi who is the sole administrator of ENetSuD because he is the Director, at the same time the General Secretary, Finance Secretary, Press Secretary, should also look in the mirror. He should account to the public details of the financials of ENetSuD since they claim to be for the people. He should tell us how many signatories ENetSuD has. We learnt he is the only signatory to the account of the group. That is a window for corruption which he is purportedly fighting.

“Alagbonsi should also provide the receipt for the car they procured recently with the honorarium given to them by their paymasters. An insider source says the car was not actually bought at the price being circulated by ENetSuD. That would mean inflation which they have always claimed to be against. ENetSuD should also publish their statement of account. A group that seeks transparency must show example. No such publication on their pages. In the final analysis, ENetSuD has soiled its image and lost credibility by getting patronage from a political candidate which they have now endorsed. The general public can now understand the motive behind all their half-truths and propaganda against the present government. We urge the performing government not to be distracted by their innuendoes,” the statement ended.
